The short version
- No account, no sign-in, no personal profile — the app doesn't know who you are.
- Everything you read and every question you ask the on-device assistant stays on your phone. Nothing is sent to us or to any AI service in the cloud.
- The only network calls the app makes are: downloading an open-weight AI model file from Hugging Face if you opt into the Assistant, and submitting an anonymous, optional "report a problem" note to a Google Form.
- No analytics, no advertising, no trackers, no data sale — none are built into the app.
About this app
Bharat SambhiDaan is an offline reference app for the Constitution of India, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA). It works fully offline for browsing and reading. It also includes an optional AI Assistant that answers questions about these texts by running an open-weight language model directly on your device — your questions are never sent to a server to generate an answer.
This policy explains what happens to your information across the Android and iOS versions of the app.
Information we collect
Information you provide
The app does not ask you to create an account, sign in, or enter any personal details to use it. The one place you can voluntarily type something is the "report a problem" feature, which lets you flag a provision that reads wrong. If you use it, you may type a short note describing the issue. This is submitted anonymously — see Section 3.
Information stored on your device
Your reading preferences (such as light/dark theme), any AI model you've chosen to download, and your assistant conversation history are all stored locally in the app's private storage. This data never leaves your device and is not visible to us in any form.
Information collected automatically
None. The app does not include analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting software of any kind, so we do not receive usage statistics, device identifiers, or behavioral data from your use of the app.
Network connections the app makes
The app only reaches the internet in two specific situations, both of which you control:
| When | What happens | What's sent |
|---|---|---|
| You choose to enable the AI Assistant | The app downloads an open-weight model file (roughly 0.8–2.3 GB) directly from Hugging Face (huggingface.co), a third-party model hosting service, so it can run locally on your device. | Only the standard network request needed to fetch the file. No personal or usage data is sent by the app. Hugging Face's own servers see your device's IP address as they would for any file download — see their privacy policy. |
| You tap "Report a problem" on a page or an assistant reply | The app submits your note to a Google Form that we own, used purely as a submission inbox. | The provision you were viewing, the note you typed (if any), and the app version/platform. The form is configured to not collect your email address, and nothing else identifies you. |
Once a model is downloaded, the Assistant runs entirely offline — the questions you ask it and the answers it gives are never transmitted anywhere.
How information is used
Model files are used only to power the on-device Assistant. Problem reports are used only to find and fix errors in the app's content. We do not build profiles, do not use anything you send us for advertising, and do not combine it with any other data source.
What we don't do
- not in the app Advertising or ad SDKs
- not in the app Analytics or behavioral tracking
- not in the app Cloud AI — your questions never leave your device to generate an answer
- not in the app Account creation, login, or user profiles
- not in the app Selling or renting data to third parties — we don't, because we don't collect anything to sell
Your data, your control
The Assistant is entirely optional — the app is fully functional as a Constitution/BNS/BNSS/BSA reference and browser without ever downloading a model. If you'd rather not use it, nothing is downloaded and nothing changes about how the rest of the app behaves.
Everything the app stores lives in your device's app-private storage. Clearing the app's storage or uninstalling it removes your downloaded model, your assistant history, and your preferences completely — we hold no copy, because none was ever sent to us.
Children's privacy
Bharat SambhiDaan is a general-audience legal reference app and is not directed at children. It is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children, and given that the app collects no personal information from any user, none is collected from children either. The BNS/BNSS reference material describes criminal offences as codified in statute, which parents and guardians of younger users may wish to review before use.
Not legal advice
Bharat SambhiDaan, including its AI Assistant, provides informational and educational reference material only. It is not a substitute for advice from a qualified lawyer, and nothing in the app should be relied on as legal advice for a specific situation. The Assistant's answers are generated by a language model and may occasionally be incomplete or inaccurate.
Security
Because so little data ever leaves your device, the app's security surface is small. What we do control — the "report a problem" submission and model downloads — travels over HTTPS. Data stored on your device is protected by your operating system's standard app sandboxing.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes — such as adding a new data collection practice — will be reflected here before they take effect.
