The short version
- The app is a reader for the Constitution of India and thirty-one other Central Acts. The whole text ships inside the app, so it works fully offline. There is no account, no sign-in, and no form you must fill in.
- The app keeps two settings on your phone: your light/dark theme choice and whether you have seen the welcome screens. Nothing else is stored, and neither ever leaves the device.
- The one thing you can send us is a problem report. "Report a problem" on any provision sends what you type, plus the provision's name, app version and platform, to a Google Form we own. It happens only when you press Send and asks nothing about you.
- No analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting, no third-party SDKs, no tracking of any kind. Search runs entirely on your phone.
- The text is taken from India Code, the Government of India's official repository of Central legislation. We are not affiliated with the Government of India or any court or ministry.
- Nothing in the app is legal advice, and the text may contain errors. Verify any provision against the official source before relying on it.
What the app is
Mera Samvidhaan is a free, independent app for Android and iOS for reading the Constitution of India and thirty-one other Central Acts, among them the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, the Code of Civil Procedure, the Indian Contract Act, the Consumer Protection Act, the Information Technology Act and the Income-tax Acts. Every Article and Section is laid out to be read, searched and linked to.
The complete text of every Act is bundled inside the app. Reading, browsing and searching happen on your phone and need no internet connection. The app opens a network connection for exactly one purpose, described in Section 3, and only when you ask it to.
This policy covers the app only. The website at merasamvidhaan.in has its own, separate policy.
What the app collects
From you: nothing, unless you send a report
There is no account, no sign-in, no profile and no field that asks for your name, email, phone number, location or anything else about you. The only text you can ever type into the app that goes anywhere is a problem report, which you choose to send (Section 3).
On your phone: two settings
The app stores two values in its private app storage (SharedPreferences on Android, UserDefaults on iOS):
theme_mode— whether you chose the light theme, the dark theme, or to follow the system.onboarding_done— that you have been through the welcome screens, so they are not shown again.
Both stay on your device, are never transmitted, and are removed when you uninstall the app. The app has no reading history, no bookmarks, no saved searches and no other stored data.
Automatically: nothing we can see
The app contains no analytics library, no advertising SDK, no crash reporter, no push notification service and no third-party code of any kind that phones home. We receive no report of who installed the app, what was read, what was searched for, or how long it was used. Searching runs entirely on your phone; the query is never sent anywhere.
The app does not use device identifiers, advertising identifiers, or your location.
The problem report
Each provision has a "Report a problem" action for telling us that something in the text is wrong. When you press Send, the app submits the following to a Google Form we own, over HTTPS:
- the note you typed (up to 4,000 characters), or a fixed placeholder if you left it blank;
- the name of the provision you were reading;
- the app version and the platform ("Android" or "iOS").
Nothing else is sent: no name, no email, no device identifier, no location. The report is anonymous, which also means we cannot reply to it. If you want an answer, write to support@merasamvidhaan.in instead, where you are choosing to give us your address.
Do not put personal information in a report. What you type is read by us and stored in a Google Form response sheet, and Google's own privacy policy governs Google's handling of that submission, including the network-level data (such as your IP address) that any web request necessarily exposes to the server receiving it.
This is the only network request the app ever makes. If you never press Send, the app never connects to anything.
Permissions and platform data
On Android the app declares one permission, INTERNET, used solely for the problem report in Section 3. It asks for no runtime permission: no storage, camera, microphone, contacts, location or notifications.
On iOS the app requests no permissions at all.
The app supports merasamvidhaan:// deep links, so a link to a provision can open the app directly. Opening such a link is handled on your device and sends nothing anywhere.
Google Play and the Apple App Store may collect their own installation, update and crash data under their respective privacy policies. We do not receive any of it beyond the aggregate figures those stores show every developer.
Where the text comes from
The statutory text in the app is taken from India Code (indiacode.nic.in), the Government of India's official repository of Central legislation, maintained by the Ministry of Law and Justice. It is not written by us, not paraphrased by us, and not sourced from anywhere else.
The text of a Central Act is public material. What the app adds is presentation: the provisions are structured, cross-referenced, searchable and readable on a phone. The words of the law itself are reproduced as published, including footnotes and amendment markers.
Where the app shows anything that is not statutory text — a Part summary, a chapter description, an explanatory note — that is our own editorial writing, and it carries no legal weight whatsoever.
No affiliation with the Government
Mera Samvidhaan is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, authorised by, or connected in any way to the Government of India, the Parliament of India, the Ministry of Law and Justice, any State Government, or any court, tribunal, or public authority.
No part of the app should be read as an official publication or as carrying any governmental sanction. The only official source of Indian legislation is the Government's own — see Section 5.
Not legal advice
The app provides informational and educational reference material only. Nothing in it is legal advice.
Reading a provision in the app does not tell you how it applies to your situation. What a section means in a given case depends on facts, on procedure, on other provisions, on rules and notifications made under the Act, and on how courts have interpreted it. None of that is in the app.
The text may contain errors from conversion, and may not reflect the latest amendments. Before relying on any provision, check it against the official source, and for anything that matters, speak to a qualified lawyer. Using the app creates no lawyer–client or other professional relationship with us.
Children's privacy
This is a general-audience legal reference app, not directed at children. It collects no personal information from any user, so none is collected from children either. Note that the criminal-law Acts describe offences as codified in statute, which parents and guardians of younger readers may wish to review before use.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page changes with it. A material change — a new practice, a new third party, anything that alters what happens to you — will appear here before it takes effect, and the app will point to this same address.
